Attention parents: Feedback is needed. Take a look at the letter below from Mrs. Howard. Here is the link to the letter in pdf format: Asynchronous Days Parent Note
Because we want to honor the diligent work of our hard-working teachers who need additional planning time to master lesson planning for teaching face-to-face and virtual students concurrently, the district has recently been given approval by the Texas Education Agency to add the following three Asynchronous Remote Learning days for the 2021 spring semester:
These three remote learning days will allow for additional teacher planning, student support and parent communication.
Campus principals have the autonomy to provide flexibility to create a campus specific schedule that will maximize the opportunities for teacher planning while students work from home asynchronously. For South Belt Elementary, students will have one reading, math and writing assignment, as well as a lesson to complete on dreambox and istation. Please note that these are not student holidays or days off. All students will be required to log in to their platform and complete assignments by 11:59 p.m, but there will not be any zoom meetings with the teachers. Devices will be sent home the Friday prior to these days so that your student has one to complete the assignments. For students who work from home on these Asynchronous Remote Learning days, curbside meals will be available.
Our campus will remain open for circumstances that will prevent students to working remotely from home. If you choose to have your child attend campus for face to face learning that day, students in all grade levels will work in a central location and be supervised by our wonderful paraprofessionals.
For planning purposes, we need to know your decision on whether your child will be able to work from home or need to come to school on these Asynchronous Remote Learning days. Please fill out the information sheet attached to this letter and return to the school by Thursday, January 21, 2021.
We want to thank you for your continued support this year and your willingness to work with us during a difficult time to ensure your child receives a quality education. We appreciate your patience, as we need to make changes to meet the needs of students and staff this year.
